New to the forum, bought a 2001 suburban a few months ago with 183k miles. One owner who cared for the vehicle and raised their family in it. I’m looking to do the same, I owe the original owner a debt… I have to get it to 300,000 miles lol I’ve only put 2k so far.

I have done all 4 shocks and front sway bar links. Removed the old badges and cleaned up the head lights.
Excited to learn more about the 5.3 vortec. And get my hands dirty.

Any members local to the valley? Looking for a reliable/knowledgeable mechanic that I can bring the vehicle to when needed. I’m originally from San Diego but I’ve been in the valley for a few years.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, from Oregon.

The 5.3 is a rock solid engine, especially before the AFM got involved.

Do a "search" here at the top right and look for stories about the exhaust manifold bolt heads breaking".

If you take care of it, it will take care of you. If you do not know the age, change the fuel filter and clean the MAF and get a throttle body seal and remove throttle body and clean the throttle body throat and plate.

If has been taken care of, the plugs and wires are close to being due for the second time and start saving for the ignition coils.

Repay the debt by giving the vehicle back to him for $1 @ 300,001 miles.

Welcome from TX! Looks clean.
These are amazing vehicles!
Dont feel like you owe the original owner anything, she’s all yours now!

Did they put those newer generation GM wheels on it?
She definitely is! Falling more in love everyday.

And they must have I did not. I have not changed much on the exterior
