Man, he really got in depth with the theory at one point and it was a great watch - I usually can't pay attention through longer videos with most guys that just babble around and have poor presentation. He's different, by far.

It's great to see someone use the information you can get from OBD2 diags but also the physical testing using the gauge. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing that part very soon with my '94 since of course I don't have the benefit of OBD2 to show me any other info. I've got slightly rough running, lack of power, but the #1 symptom that I noticed the moment I first started the truck - rotten egg smell from the exhaust, which has the original pellet bed style converter.

He's spot-on about the factory pre-made cat/pipe combo being stupid expensive, and also not necessary. A universal style cat can be installed for under $200 in most situations. I think the shop I had replace a rattling/blown cat on my '06 SS only charged me $150.

It's funny when he wraps up because although he didn't personally "fix" the vehicle, he did far more than all the other prior attempts. It'd be nice to see a follow-up but I have faith he did correctly diagnose the issue, and the replacement cat will solve it.

I agree with the "too many" guys/girls on there that just babble and repeat themselves and do not get to how they made a decision for a part replacement. I want to info laid out like this guy does and backs up with "why" for what he says. I hope every member here looks at this video. Way too many "parts cannons" are shot at a problem. Plus, he said the truck owner did some of the parts replacement himself but I wonder if the shops that did the other parts replacements, were just told to replace parts or did they do diagnostics first. Plus, this bad catalytic converter was making noises. WOW!

Thats what I liked about the video, he actually diagnosed the problem and didn't throw parts at it. When I bought my 07 Duramax the temp on the mirror didn't work, so I made a warranty appointment to have it fixed. When I picked it up they said they ordered a temp sensor and made another appointment. Dropped it off a second time and when I was picking it up they said "it didnt fix it, we ordered a wiring harness and made a new appointment". They replace the harness on the third round, the mirror on the fourth round, and HVAC head unit on the fifth round and it was fixed. I also had multiple other warranties and recalls on that truck, they never diagnosed anything, just threw parts at it.

When my friends ask if can do something like replace an alternator on the vehicle, my response is "I can diagnose it to see if it needs and alternator".

I have had customers ask if I can replace this or that part. I say sure but no warranty on the repair as to whether the new part fixes the problem. Then usually they say that they were told that would fix it by, AZ or O'Reilly's or NAPA or or or....Or even a neighbor. Sometimes it fixes the problem and other times not and I get paid to dig deeper. Sometimes I find the actual problem while replacing the part they wanted me to install.

Correct. 6.0 engines did not but some 5.3's did. Your truck, being a Classic never did but I had heard rumors over at Tahoe/Yukon Forum. Your truck is an 800 but some 2007 were considered 900's. Confusing to me sometimes and had to ask. Having no AFM is a big plus.

More research. The GM trucks that were labeled "Classic" like yours, are GMT800's thru 2009. Gonna have to dig deeper but I think if it was labeled a Classic GMT800, none were available with AFM.
