So prior to the recent set of Michelin Defenders I ran I had a set of Continental TerrainContact A/T 121/118S in 285/70R17.

These tires were very comfortable and super quiet. They were pretty new when I got them and was generally happy with them.

I had them on for about 26k miles over 2 years. I only had one puncture which occurred on an off road excursion out in the desert. It was a slow leak so I left it in for a few months before I got it patched. After that no more leaks. I still really liked the tires and they remained very quiet however, the last couple thousand miles I noticed almost a flat spot feel after the truck sat for more than 24 hours in one spot. It generally cleared up after about a mile or so but kind of annoying. I kept them rotated but don't recall rebalancing them at all during that time. After 2 years we purchased a 10k# travel trailer and on a cross country trip I was fighting an unsteady side to side feel in heavy cross winds. constantly fighting to stay centered in my lane. I initially contributed it to the taller sidewall on the tires so did a round of repairs (new gear box, power steering pump, rear shackle bushings as well as downsized tires to the Michelin Defender LTX M/S 265/70R17. After all the changes the side to side to feel was gone. I can't fault the tires necessarily as I believe the other items that were worn out with over 250k miles were likely at fault. Nevertheless I changed tires and stuck with the Michelins from then on out.

Honestly I'd probably try these again. They were probably just as comfortable and quiet as the Michelin Defenders aside from the flat spot kinda feel they developed.
