I am new to my beloved GMT800. So short story, 2006 GMC Sierra SLT. Sending unit stopped working. Bought an OEM DELCO fuel pump, supposedly matched my VIN with carpartsdotcom. Pump sat brand new in the box for a year and a half. No returns now….
Did the change out last week, pump works great, gauge on dash wrong. Steppers and cluster perfect. Pulled the pump only to realize they sent me the wrong pump for a 36 gallon tank not the 26. So now I have a float arm that’s too long and gets jammed at half a tank on the sidewall of the tank. My plan is to pull the pump again and bend the rod to work. Has anyone ever had this problem and made it work? Just curious

The fuel tank size is stored on the PCM/ECU, the pumps don't know how large your tank are.

But I do remember there was a change at some point on the ohm range of the senders on the pump. I believe performancetrucks.net has some information about the changes. Sounds like you got the round pump, regardless...

Welcome to the forum, from Oregon.

One thing I hope you figure out and do, asap, is to fill your Signature with your vehicle spec info. You said 2006 GMC Sierra SLT. Great, but what series? 1500, 2500 or 3500? What engine?

What pump part number did you buy? C'mon man!!!!!!!

Never been on this site before. I’ll make sure to leave way more details and update my profile specs thanks for leaving more than just a sarcastic jab.
If you put all the MAYBE NEEDED vehicle info in the Signature, like mine and other members, you never have to REMEMBER to give info with any post you make. Don't hold back. Production date, transmission, tire size if not stock, ext cab, crew cab, long bed, short bed, flex fuel or gas and any updates or add ons or changes from stock.

Even the fuel tank size....
