If you have the right gear, the 6.0 should tow fine, to a point. Nothing says torque like a big block. If the 8.1 crank sensor ever goes, well, have fun.
I have no preference one way or the other, the rest of the truck being "right" would be more important to me. Non-diesel is the only stipulation, I'm just not a diesel guy. I am a big fan of the 6.0. Never owned an 8.1 but I have a friend who is turning me into more of a big-block guy each day. His vortec 454 swapped 82 K20 is rad, and so is his 8.1 powered 72.

I was looking on Marketplace and happened to click on my saved tab to see what was still available. I was reminded of this exact truck that I missed out on about a year ago. It was listed for under 5K with a bad engine. I didn't have the space to store it at the time, otherwise I would have jumped all over it.

Never been a fan of the 6.0, but that said I haven't tuned one yet. A proper tuned 6.0 might be just fine.
With the 4.10 gears our truck has, it is set to do what we expect. I would like to have the 3.73 gears but beggers can't be choosers. It is not a daily driver and a tow/haul specific truck for us. Trips are made in my Tahoe and het TrailBlazer is her around town vehicle. So far, the 6.0 is just fine.

I like my cat eye but if I could I would get a 2000-2004 2500, I really sometimes miss my 2500 and I have always like that early gmt800 style. If I ever found something like these I might have to consider a swap, I would love it in Grey Blue or Green and just the Ext cab but I would entertain a crew cab.2001-chevrolet-silverado-2500-hd-ls.jpg6242317466_e5a4a9c716.jpg
