Well shoot, if we are going to a NP205, get a divorced 205, do a 4 link rear suspension with a 14bolt full floater and a 3 link front with panhard bar with a dana 60. You would have some serious travel and articulation. Use jeep springs from Metalcloke!

Cool truck and welcome from Texas.

Why not start with a 2500HD? Buy a RCLB or ECSB that needs some love. It will already have the 14 bolt rear axle, the 4L80e and a heavy duty transfer case, besides the larger and more robust brakes. You will just need a regear based on your tire size, but there is plenty of aftermarket support for the 14 bolt. Looks like the ORD kit works on the 8 lug GM pickups. Not sure if there's a kit out there for the 6 lug?

Just a thought... Subscribed for the build.

Thanks, and yeah having a different starting truck would probably be the wiser option ha, but out of stubbornness and curiosity i just want to see what i can do with this truck considering i already own it and its already torn apart for replacing the blown engine.

Welcome to the forum from Alaska.
My opinion is what @Tonimus just said, along with a 4L80e swap. If you go with the chevy axles (dana 60 front 14bolt full floater rear), get a square body NP208 to bolt on the 4L80e.
NP241 (harder to find for squares) or a reclocked GMt400 one would work with square body axles , also a bit stronger than NP208

heres a square np208
Note, the np208 wouldnt require the front shaft to always spin like the np261/3 do (gmt800 later years have these cases)
I think the early gmt800 cases are the same way
