Revisiting this from my introduction thread.
I have figured out that the headlights will only come on when it is dark, regardless of the switch position. Studying the owners manual, it appears that this is not normal as I should be able to move the switch to “on” and take the automatic headlights out of the equation. Ideas?

The obvious would be the switch. Switch is easy enough to remove and check power/grounds at different selections.

See the 'Dome OverRide' button? Once you learn how to double-tap that button properly, do that whenever you want to operate that switch as you like.
Til you learn how to double-tap the 'Dome OverRide', your headlights will respond to ambient light as they do. There is a way to trick that sensor as well.

I appreciate the responses and advice. I have ordered a new headlight switch and we’ll see how it goes. The headlights will not come on in the light, regardless of any switch position, dome override, gear selection, parking brake, etc. I can fake out the light sensor by covering it up and then the lights will come on in both switch positions, auto and on. That leads me to think that at least the light sensor is functioning correctly and will start with the easy switch, as Orvietvet suggested.
Will post back here after new switch is installed with results. Thanks again
