Yea, the older I get, the more I plan, plan, plan and think of "what if". The other day, I almost got hit by another vehicle driven by someone not paying attention but I was ready for it because I "plan on people doing the stupid thing".

My one friend was 100% down for the both of us flying to NV and driving it back cross country 2800 miles. Hell yes it sounds fun making memories like that ...but what happens when we break down or get a flat with only the tools we could put in our carry on? I think it would have cost like 1600 to drive it home including plane tickets ...I'd rather have a semi pick it up and deliver for another 700 bucks

With that distance, you made a good call.

Finally got it fellas! She's super clean inside and out! It was getting dark when I got it. I'll post more pics soon. Stops and drives like it's brand new!
wow that bumper stands out
In a bad way
it would have been so much better if they did a body color instead of chrome for the white trucks

Got some time to take a few pics after work! This thing is cleannnn. I ordered weather tech floor mats last night. Looking for some seat covers now. Hopefully I can get some new tires by the end of the week. There's some minor paint peeling on the roof I want to get fixed and I'll buy the fluid film kit to keep her mint.

Gotta give a shout out to my man Bruno at Lee Brothers in Reno, Nevada. Bruno is the best salesman I've ever come into contact with. He made the whole process so easy and was very responsive with any questions I had. He was willing to meet the transporter on a Sunday, which was his day off.

The transport broker I used was Nick, from Graham Family Auto Transport. The first driver was supposed to pick the truck up on a specific date but had issues, I called Nick and he had a driver pick my truck up the same day. Dispatch called me and assured it would be delivered by the weekend, and it was delivered last night.

Thank you again to everyone for the insight and looking for a good truck for me, I really appreciate it and I'm so happy that this forum exists. I will continue to post progress on this rig. I think I got a good one!

@AuroraGirl I may be wrong but I think they all came with chrome. I'm just happy it's not damaged or rotted to hell

Roof problem is minor now, so is best to address now.

The very next thing I would do to this truck, is drop the spare tire down and clean up the drop cable and lube the entire mechanism. Inspect the tire and wheel and clean it all up and I would even get it dismounted and check the bead and again, clean up as needed and check the tire. You never know when you will need it and you can use the tire on it or best of the ones you swap out.

Wow, that truck is pristine.

Yeah, all GMT800 trucks had front chrome bumper. I think only the Silverado SS had a color matched bumper, but that truck had a bunch of "fu-fu" stuff IMO. But I have seen some of these trucks with after-the-fact sprayed color-matched front and/or rear bumpers, and they actually look pretty nice TBH, kinda more modern like the current trucks. That's not here nor there tho.

Congratulations on the purchase. That truck is going to last many years to come.

okay so not fair not only is that truck using the original rear shocks, no rust on the pumpkin or the rockers. thats a crime! no rockers!!!! bad!!
Mine are gone ;(
The spare tire is the OEM tire. you should buy 5 matching tires soon. also whoever put white outlined lettering in was a scrub

make sure to show us the floor mats. can you show me your listing you bought? I dont have any on my vinyl floor,. if they are molded nicely i might have to

Pricey but well worth it. I haven't checked the spare yet. There's also another spare in the bed but it's cracked all around. You and @ORVietVet are right about taking the spare down and lubricating everything and buying another tire ..didn't think about that. My friend is a Mac tool dealer and he knows a lot of places that will fix the paint on the roof, I also want to coat the rockers and anything underneath with that chip guard stuff.
