I got them down to $15,350 ...at least that will cover the cost of tires. If you ask me all the other stuff is minimal. I'll change the power steering pump and serpentine belt when I get it.

The gentleman at Scotty's transmission/RPM Auto whom performed the PPI has known the original owner for over 20 years. He told me that the original owner was an older guy who basically used it as a grocery getter, had it serviced regularly, wasn't a "hot rodder" and genuinely took care of the vehicle.

Going to try and get the bank stuff squared away tomorrow and I'll be shopping for a transport. The man I'm dealing with at the dealer is a very calm individual, not pushy by any means and he's been a great help so far.

Fingers crossed boys! I got a great feeling about this one. I'll keep y'all posted on the process and post price quotes on shipping costs. Def not going to skimp out on shipping because I've heard stories of waiting for months when going with the cheapest option.

Yea, seepage at p/s is a "keep track and monitor the fluid level" but remember that it will also effect the power brake hydro-boost system, as well. The headlamps are inexpensive and easy to change out, I mean real easy. Two "L" shaped rods, pull 'em and the light falls out. The off set on negotiations will help with tires but get a good set of Load Range "E" tires. Alignment and balance of tires should fix other concerns. Get the mirrors adjusted where you can see ok and leave them there. Don't need to extend unless you are pulling something big behind you. I have the same mirrors and never move them. You can easily replace with the smaller mirrors, like on 1/2 ton and SUV's. May not attach correctly at the wiring but you can figure it out. Hell, you can just get manual adjust mirrors and easy to bolt in. The headliner is a PITA and sometimes you can remove trim and peel an end down and spray sticky crap up in there and re-glue. If it is dropped down in the middle, and has a bubble, then you make a small cut and stick the thin nozzle in the cut and spray in a circle and re-glue. May not be pretty and is your choice. When do the belt(s), do the tensioner and any idler pulleys.

When you get it home, make sure to post some owner pics instead of the salesman pics.
Oh I absolutely will post pictures. But yeah everything else you said is my plan. Keep an eye on the power steering, headlights are a piece of cake, mirrors ... I have a camper I pull about 5 times a year. I've done mirrors on my old 03 sierra, simple but most non OEM rattle like hell. Some good brand E tires will be the first thing I do, headliner I'll either do a temporary/permanent fix or just put my own fabric up but I'll see what shape its in when I get it.

I saw a good video on you tube about replacing the motors in the existing mirrors. Keep the OE mirrors and rebuild and his worked flawlessly. Thankfully mine work great and no vibes problems now. Had a slight d/s vibes but I shimmed the glass and all is solid now. They both go in and out flawlessly. This truck of mine may be my daily driver soon. I have a very nice 2005 Tahoe Z71 but it has a sun roof and I am dreading the eventual water leak. I have kept the seals clean and lubed but I FEAR THE LEAK may happen. I am pretty sure I am gonna sell it. It will sell nicely because it has no rust and everything works.

Find where the drain tubes terminate, and gentle backflush with a shot of air (not a lot) and then pour water down the drain
if the drains are like the cars with sunroofs, they terminate in a nipple for NVH and the nipples plug up. cut the nipple to be open more (either to tube diameter or just a bit more) and youll not plug them up nearly as easy

Thanks but I have addressed the drain tubes yearly and thankfully, they have never been clogged at all, since I owned it. Cannot speak of the previous owner but the first maintenance on the system: tubes, clean and lube seals, showed some partial clogging. Thankfully, the inner slide cover shows no signs of previous leakage problems and no stains.

I'm going to try it out, the truck will be used for side work and a commuter. I like the idea of having all my tools in the back with the cap but I don't like the glass (worried about getting my shit stolen). The Ferd has a bed toolbox with plumbing and HVAC material and the less expensive tools, I keep my power tools in the backseat. I tried a hard top tonneau and hated it. So we'll see! Here's the setup I have now

Beautiful truck, tons of power with the 5.0 but the 10spd is absolutely horrible. It'll be good to get back in a gmt800 and I can't wait!

Yea, sell that Ford and get some money back towards the GMT800.

So, you did do the deal then? Shipping fees?

I really am glad you found that truck. It took some searching but when you sell the Ford, you will have some money to go thru the new truck and take care of "needs".

Thank you, I'm glad I found it too! I have to wait until Wednesday for the bank lady to get back from vacation, but the salesman said it was no problem and they'll hold it for me. But yeah I'll have some money to play with once I sell the Ford. I plan on getting tires, headlights, ps pump, tensioner/pulley, (dealer said they'll change the oil) I'll change it when I get it anyways, fluid film kit, seat covers and weather tech floor mats. I did not look into shipping costs just yet. Nothing's set in stone until it's sitting in my driveway, I was already approved for that 20k Cali truck so this should be fine ...I'm not putting any money down

Is there a link for the Cali truck further back in this thread? Hell, I guess I should look and stop being lazy.

It had 2 codes stored that were cleared but didn't complete drive cycle. P0654 and p0650. I think I posted the PPI. Super clean truck in and out but those codes made me uneasy especially when I asked a couple friends who are mechanics with their own shops

Yea, those codes can effect engine and transmission communications. Good to shy away unless it was really cheap and the rest of the truck was fine and no rust.

Just giving an update, truck ships out tomorrow. Fingers crossed, it should be here by next Thursday. Went with Nick from Graham Family Auto Transport. They are a broker unfortunately, but it was hard finding someone who actually runs the company themselves. After talking on the phone today, he was able to lock me in 2 hours later with a transporter he frequently uses. Total was 2290, same quote I got from 3 large brokers ....is what it is. I'll post pics when I get it.

Thank you again to all of you with your insights and attention to details that I may have missed.

$17,640 for truck and shipping. When you consider a long flight and a long drive back and if anything happened on the return trip, who knows the cost? Get it to you and if there is anything amiss, you are home.

I have to agree with this, back in 2019-2020? I bought a 2001 2500 in Salina KS. On the way home it lost a rear U-Joint at 9:30 at night. If I would’ve brought my dads truck and trailer I would’ve been home and not on the side of the highway debating my life choices
