Heater hose quick connect options

both ends of my heater hose is leaking from the the plastic fittings. seeing how this is a common and reoccurring issue I was wondering if anyone had found a way to eliminate both of those plastic fittings for steel or brass.

I just had my lower heater hose quick disconnect fitting brake off, actually two of them break off on two different trucks on two different long distance trips. I see RockAuto sells the parts, but I'm not sure exactly which ones I need, and if I should get Dorman or ACDelco, which is double the price.
