Oil Analysis Choices

How many use oil analysis for your trucks? If you do, who do you use, https://www.blackstone-labs.com/......tix.com/shop/p/standard-drain-sample-kit...or someone else?

I use blackstone for my Duramax usually every other oil change just to keep an eye on changes in wear metals.

Is a diesel engine analysis a different price than a gas engine analysis?

Blackstone is the same for gas and diesel oil sample testing. They also do transmission coolant and diesel fuel testing which have other prices.

You can compare the 3 page analysis in my Garage thread. First analysis of neighbors 2006 F150 5.4, installed last fall.

Never had UOA performed on the LQ4. I'm actually running Valvoline Restore and Protect right now. I use Speeddiagnostix.com on my LT1, since I was trying to determine if I could compromise and use DexosR 5w50 in both track and street scenarios.

My jar is filled , now im just needing to fill the form and return. by chance.. did you get a return label in the box? I dont seem to have a label for the box, so obviously it wont mail under the label to myself
was it the same size as the box label?

Yes, when received the "sample kit" it came with a return sample box with a return label on it. Get ahold of them to straighten that out. You did not notice that when the kit arrived?

Sorry, yes, should be a label on the return box that the sample bottle was in. They also recently sent out a notice to customers about counterfeit stamps.com return labels on the return boxes. Contact them directly and see what they say.

Also, I am trying to work out a discount with them for forum members here. I f you already used them, all good. BUT, if you started using them because of my posts here about them, tell them so and message me that you did so I can keep a tally. Thanks and good luck.

Yea, the price you pay for the kit is supposed to include a return label on the box and is supposed to be returned within a 6 month period.

I emailed lake, and he responded pretty damn fast. he refunded me 10 dollars and gave me the address so i can go to the post office and mail the sample
I was pretty pleased with how quickly hes jumped on that and handled that, very professional and a good sign

I had some in depth questions about the sample I was sending and he called and texted me on his personal cell number to get it handled.

I’m not sure if I was supposed to put the mileage on the oil or the overall but the overall mileage at the time of sample was like 181k or so

From what I understand the wear metals may be high from using the restore and protect but it sounds like I may have not had very dirty ring lands because I don’t see a lot of manganese or other metals from fuel and injector cleaners. But it sounds like the metal wear I do have is at the crank or connecting rods bearings which is think may be explained by a lot of heavy towing in my step dads use or the numbers aren’t excessive but I can’t know that till I get one or more analysis to see what the trend is. And I don’t have a pre oil one

Good call. Lake Speed Jr. is a big advocate about the Valvoline R&P. Reach out to them and ask if they agree with you about your hypothesis. They are great about responding back when asked. Also, reach out to them about the return postage stickers, if you ordered multiple kits in the beginning. I believe he has some replacement ones. Again, ask.
