Was a good run, and I don't know what I am going to do. If I could get it back to the way it was new that would be fine, not interested in some new super loud system, just want to play my old CD's. Looked on ebay, the ones there look worse than my broken one. Crutchfield had like a jensen, or sony, pretty cheap; going to probably going to need speakers too. I hope something isn't wired into the CD player that will effect just putting a CD player into the radio spot. Does look like maybe the displays could have been linked to auto dim.

I put four Pioneer TS-G650s in my Tahoe. Been really happy with them. They fit well in my '06 doors. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSG650/Pioneer-TS-G650.html

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I put a BOSS unit in my truck and I've been very happy with it. The single DIN BOSS Crutchfield has is pretty basic and is going to have very similar functionality to the original stereo, with the addition of being able to play MP3 CDs.

Thanks for the recommendations. The factory stereo is like playskool my first car stereo quality, its worked so far, except now it doesn't. Sony is pretty popular because they are often the loudest w/o needing an amp. Cheap doesn't bother me too much, like looking at the jensen, I kind of laughed the $99 stereo for the '99 truck.

I’ve run Kenwood radios for probably close to 35 years, with the sole exception of a Sony. I didn’t have any issues with any of them.

I’m looking at either Kenwood or a Power Acoustics. Walmart has a Power Acoustics single din with a backup camera that I’ve been eyeing for my S10. I don’t care about bass anymore. Just a good sounding radio.

I think the last aftermarket stereo I bought was a pioneer, though the one in the crutchfield catalog had pinkish red lighting, and just no.

The shop next to mine used to specialize in car audio going as far to do the competition where they shatter the windows on a vehicle. The cars that go boom. Haha
