Hii, I have an 03 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L pouring like raining in the back of the engine when putting the water into the coolant reservoir, is it the engine block freeze plug? Or head gasket?
I don't see it from the top sadly, the heater hoses are fine and they are in the way of see everything in the back, and I also wanted to confirm, if it's not the freeze plug, what else could it be?I've never known a head gasket to leak like that. With that much water, my first thought is freeze plug. I suppose it could be steam port related, but I'd think you'd see that from the top.
the heater hoses are fine, I can see them from the top bone dry with no leaking, not sure if I really need to drop the transmission in order to check the rear plugs on the head and the block?Has the engine frozen over at any time? The engine block "freeze plugs" are actually all Allen hex thread plugs, so not likely to pop out. The heads do have some press fit plugs...I believe it's for the coolant passages?
The heater hose quick connects are a known source to crack and cause massive leaks, so check those as @ORVietVet mentioned.
Otherwise, a strong flashlight, an inspection mirror and 2 eyes should find that leak...
Good luck and let us know what you find.
