If you read my other posts, you will realize my dislike for that body series (and I can share those details, if you like). They are't "bad" in the grand scheme of things, they just don't compare to the GMT800. I came from driving a 99 GMT800 for many years, then bought a 00 GMT400, and I can tell you that's definitely a downgrade overall. I know the old guys love their OBS (and I get that) will hate me, but it is what it is...
I can see why you would like the GMT800 over the GMT400 after owning a couple. They are a much cleaner and simpler build with more power and comfort. For me, there is something about the OBS that draws me, I love the platform. As for the GMT400 escalade, don't touch it! Low production, only 2 years, cant get any parts for the caddy/denali specific items.Umm...That's like a one or two-year vehicle and actually a GMT400...

Does it not meet your budget for the "beater car?" Buy it and do a V8 swap down the road...![]()
Nice!Got some new wheels today - it ain’t a GMT800 but it’s a good family hauler (4 boys at home) and short commuter

Back to Burb rear main seal planning..
what other things should I hit while mechanic is doing the rear main seal?
Trans mount?
Oil pan?
Engine mounts?
Yessir!! Good stuffIf doing the oil pan do the oil pump pickup o-ring, and with transmission out the oil pressure sender.
