Umm...That's like a one or two-year vehicle and actually a GMT400...

If you read my other posts, you will realize my dislike for that body series (and I can share those details, if you like). They are't "bad" in the grand scheme of things, they just don't compare to the GMT800. I came from driving a 99 GMT800 for many years, then bought a 00 GMT400, and I can tell you that's definitely a downgrade overall. I know the old guys love their OBS (and I get that) will hate me, but it is what it is...

Yea recognize it’s the 400, and not many years of production. Good insight; had a feeling they wouldn’t compare to the 800! The hunt is exciting for sure

I can see why you would like the GMT800 over the GMT400 after owning a couple. They are a much cleaner and simpler build with more power and comfort. For me, there is something about the OBS that draws me, I love the platform. As for the GMT400 escalade, don't touch it! Low production, only 2 years, cant get any parts for the caddy/denali specific items.

Yeah, that truck is bare bones but still great...

Does it not meet your budget for the "beater car?" Buy it and do a V8 swap down the road... :)
already sold.
Gonna be a tough sell for another full size vehicle. We technically don’t need another. Probably looking at a sedan or wagon / hatchback

Got some new wheels today - it ain’t a GMT800 but it’s a good family hauler (4 boys at home) and short commuter

2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L
145k miles
2 owners (both military now retired)

Back to Burb rear main seal planning..
what other things should I hit while mechanic is doing the rear main seal?
Trans mount?
Oil pan?
Engine mounts?

Nice!

We own a 2013 T&C minivan. I remember when I just bought it for my wife back in 2015, I thought "no way would I drive a minivan!" Well, I guess I was too young then, because I don't mind driving now, lol. I really like the sliding doors getting in and out with the kids in standard parking spaces and the low step in height. We now even own a full sized 12 passenger Express van [monkey covering eye emoji] as a family hauler.

I would also recommend getting the torque converter lockup o ring replaced on the transmission. Maybe the transmission front pump seal too? Yes, engine oil pan too. Engine/transmission mounts, only if they are bad, otherwise leave them.
