Added another Silverado Z85 2WD. I’m far from new to these trucks but I just added a 2005 Silverado to use as my daily. I’ve gone through it pretty thoroughly. Rebuilt front suspension, rack and pinion, power steering pump, radiator, coils, plugs, knock sensors, fuel injectors, all new vacuum lines because I broke most of them doing the knock sensors, step motors in cluster, brakes, front wheel bearings, seat covers, headliner, fixed the sunroof, new wheels and tires and I know I’m missing several small items. Honestly it drives like a new truck. I’m the second owner, it was just a little neglected but not anymore. I’m a huge Chevy guy and plan on keeping this truck for a long time. Anything else I should look out for? My next 2 items of attention are servicing the transmission and differential. I just ordered fluid, filter, gasket and the 4 actuators for the transmission.

Very nice! Please tell us the story of the Corvette rear on the wall with a county 7 Wyoming plate?
I’m just big Corvette fan, I’ve had a bunch over the years. I thought it would be cool to cut a bumper from a 1997 and make it into a wall hanger. The tag is our favorite vacation spot. I know it’s a boring story

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

How is the lower steering column bearing doing?

I belong to another forum for my 2005 Tahoe Z71 and my build thread there at Tahoe/Yukon Forum, sounds like your build you have done. wish you build would have been documented here in the Under Construction Forum. Please start a build thread there for any further work on that truck of yours.

Big Corvette fan myself, got a 74 and would love a 62. And I grew up in county 6 (Carbon County), so that made me curious.

Funny you asked about the column bearing. I’ve replaced a few of those over the years with the Dorman brand even added grease but this time I’m going to the Glennsauto performance brand. It’s not too bad but it’s definitely on my list.

WOW, that's awesome. Looks like a brand new truck too!

I'll be doing the headliner on my 99 Silverado soon, but have done most everything you have listed as well.
Thanks, I bought this truck to use it. My work drive is 180 miles round trip but only twice a week and I retire in less then 6 months. After I retire it will just run me to the boat ramp and drive me around town. I actually bought a 2021 Sierra crew cab first but I didn’t really like it so I sold it. Just something about these old trucks that I like.

Welcome Pauly!

Tell us more about the GMT400 ;)

Both trucks look great!

Richard
Thanks, it’s a 1996 Silverado. Had a frame off restoration but reused most interior parts. It’s more of a Resto mod, it has a 383 stroker forged internals, big cam with a carburetor, it’s a new engine and a 700R Transmission. 495 HP to the rear wheels. Everything works in the truck including ice cold AC. It has no computers anymore so it’s more like a 1970 truck with a 1996 body. Actually had to use parts from a 1970’s Vette to get the AC to work but has a modern compressor. Very fun to drive, I was actually using it to pull my boat but it’s pretty loud, non of the neighbors complained but would text me enjoy your day when I left early in the morning. LOL
