So I stated in my intro my truck has a decent ammount of rust and miles, so needless to say it needs some new shocks. I have been looking into several different brands and grades. I am not looking to lift the truck only stock height, but I am unsure if I want to go with a standard shock or a little more heavier duty as I may pull a few loads with it. And aside from slightly heavier loads I just believe a heavier duty shock may last long (but I could be wrong). So far I have looked at Rancho, Detroit Axel, Rough Country, and more. What is everyone's options on these or even others?

It is really just people's opinions. I like Bilstein or KYB. Had Bilstein's before and now run KYB on my Tahoe. I will use KYB again. The Bilstein shock is great too.

By the way, I have never ever seen a shock advertised as light duty or standard duty. Marketing dictates that they are at least "heavy duty".

For handling purposes, I highly recommend Hellwig Performance sway bar kits.

My Tahoe wears Bilstein 4600. It's entirely possible to admire and yet at the same time not like a pair of shocks.
Absolutely should've gone with Bilstein 5100 (0.0" lift) or stiffer. These 4600 are not stiff enough for my taste.

Were I you, I'd err on 'slightly stiffer'; definitely what I should've done, especially since you've an x-cab & long bed, and intend to haul.
Wish I knew enough about more, like Fox, which was the only other one I considered.
