I am only going by pictures of this from seller, haven’t seen it in person yet. I assume the smashed piece I see behind the shock is a bump stop and am wondering if this is a normal wear item on these?

We bought our (previous vehicle) 2001 Suburban K1500 with 90,000 miles and both were "used up". I'm convinced that the previous owner, which was a small company, used that Suburban to tow about as large a trailer as it could, and I imagine that a load-distributing hitch caused them to be compressed a lot of the time.
Fairly easy to replace and not expensive.

I don’t think these were stopping many bumps anymore! I used the MevoTechs to replace them. I went that route because I could only find one good original one, the other, although new, was already roached out.

were these the ones in constant touch with the control arms or the things that keep an axle from bottoming a spring?

if control arms ( i assume based on photo) then Kryptonite ones have been good to me

Is it possible to combine the use of both the 1500 & the 2500 bump stops on the front of a Tahoe?
I don’t understand how/where and why?

The 2500 ones are I believe spaced different because of the frame and control arms being different sizes, then there’s the difference in weight of vehicle. The bump stops on front suspension are actively controlling the ride and handling at least in the 2500.

Want to use as liberal an interpretation of the concept of 'GM OE' as possible to increase my front spring rate, among many other things.
Prefer to use GM OE over aftermarket whenever / wherever possible.

Goal is a 6.0L, 4.10-axles GMT821 that can be both a PPV AND an SSV at once, using 'GM OE' parts to prove that GM was not really trying hard enough.

You could probably use the 2500hd ones in the same spot as the oe 1500, iirc the 1500 have an extra bracket on top of them so they are taller, but the 2500 just bolts directly to the bracket. So may be able to have both in contact with the control arm?
