I started off with a 2000 K2500 GMT 400 that had a 6" lift with 35's and tons of mods, but as it aged and was unable to fit inside my garage,I had to make the toughest call ever of putting it up for sale. Luckily one day I got a hit on craigslist asking if I wanted to trade for a 2005 1500 ext cab. It turns out he babied this truck and it even still had original window sticker. This truck fit my needs with the 4 doors and only slightly lifted stance. Either way I knew it was a solid truck and knew my truck was going to a good home so I took it.

When I got it, it had pretty worn M/T tires on it and a dual exhaust. Eventually the one side of the exhaust came down so I replaced it with a single out MBRP exhaust and some General grabber A/T tires that I got a steal on between a sale and rebates.

Other things I have done are fix the cluster so all my lights and gauges work, replace the 2 front impact sensors that went out and some new brake pads. The past year I have been able to keep it out of the Wisconsin elements driving my 99 Suburban during bad weather instead. I plan on selling the Suburban but might pick up a commuter car to keep the truck looking nice.95efaec333ad5fc8b9f84df89a4666f7.jpeg.jpg 20190527_201411.jpg IMG_0059.jpg IMG_0066.jpg

I always forget to update here, but I am glad to see that this forum is doing good. Truck is doing great, I invested in a cover so that we could travel with it easier now. I got the truxedo and so far I have been happy with it. It goes on and off easy which is great because I constantly need it off then back on. It keeps everything dry underneath and is holding up good for me. My truck is also garaged alot so I know its easier on the cover then if its always out in the elements.

Hauled home a new playset for the kids in it this spring, putting that together was quite a project but well worth it. Otherwise just hauling yard waste and other miscellaneous stuff and driving it around on my days off. Both the kids are now in booster seats which gives alot more room in the Ext cab and makes driving it with the family alot easier.

Awesome. I love seeing trucks hauling stuff. That's what they were meant for!
Ya that’s alot of times what mine is doing I very much use it as a truck but that’s also because I have my family hauling and commuter vehicle as well so they all serve their purpose. Nice thing is my truck can also comfortably haul the family if it’s needed

Sounds like a winner to me!

BTW, I just now see your trucks doesn't have the door moldings. Do you know if it was repainted at some point? Or maybe they were just removed? My 99 still has them, but they are starting to look a bit oxidized. My buddy told me to just remove them, but he's a "debadged"-type of guy.

I removed them on my 06 suburban (well, only one side) last year because I repainted the driver's door. I will remove the other side on that one. They are kinda of PIA to remove the adhesive. I'm starting to like the look of the trucks w/o that molding. Looks a bit cleaner.

The guy before me de badged it all he was going for the red and black clean look. I don't personally do that to my vehicles but I also don’t mind it either.

The other day I thought the exhaust looked weird I didn’t remember it coming up and touching the truck bed

So I crawled under and found this

Well even though I don’t use it in winter I used to daily drive it to work and I guess all the WI rust caught up finally. I’ll have to add this to my list of fixes behind my daily driver Subarus and my 67 Catalina

The exhaust hanger on the rear of the exhaust is about to fail (likely from this failed spot no doubt)

Something to consider, your chevy badge, ive never liked the way they looked on gmt800
Consider what i have done, it really improves the design to me, personally, i think you could pull it off well too

You need a 2015-2020 silverado badge, the original part number is like 40 bucks I found mine at a bin store.
You remove a single molded post on the rear of the bowtie(becuase it would be too large and doesnt assist in retaining it, but you could also drill the grille where it needs to be clearanced and then tie into the retaining method you chose if desired. I removed mine and then used the existing lined up post to fit in the grille. my grille would have the same retainer and badge as yours just different grille.

Also, Do your wipers "flip up?"
Just wondering if your truck is a 2000, if it is you most likely have hinged joints in the wipers that allow it to do so, but willl hit the rear of your hood at the edge (be careful so you dont damage paint)
I find it unlikely someone doing a front end change would take the wiper arms with

Thanks I don’t have a lot of time to do cosmetic stuff it’s usually just fixing what needs it but I’ll keep that in mind if I ever have extra time
