I've sanded my taillights, headlamps and markers down and put some automotive 2k clear on them. The taillights especially came out great.

I bought a pre-faded color-matched A.R.E. cap.

Pulled the rot-liner

This is why we northerners call them rot-liners.

Because this was a southern truck everything was dry under the liner. Best of all, no rot.

Funny thing is that I was thinking about a clean red one near me, I just going to paint it black. But I didn't want to pay his asking price.
A couple of months later this Blue one popped up.
Meanwhile the Red one is still for sale.

Soo...I thought that I did good. On marketplace, free OEM NOS passenger headlight bracket for free. Advertised as Silverado/Sierra. I didn't verify, I just grabbed it.

2003-2007 Silverado & non-clad Avalanche only.

Now I get to unload it.
Hurray, as if I didn't have enough work to do or things to sell, lol





Guy said that he bought it 2005 after hitting a deer in Indiana. But never installed it. Then moved to VA, then moved to FL. No longer has the truck & cleaning out the shed.

Soo...this past Saturday, the 31st, I took the Sierra for a drive to Tampa to check out LKQ's Pick Your Part. I've never been there before. The Sierra's 1st long drive since last May. The yard showed having 6 Chargers with 5 front bumpers. They inventory the bumpers, they put stickers on the big parts so that they are taken out of the system when sold. But alas, no bumpers & they can't explain why. 90min ride ea way, what an effing waste of time. Plus they charge $3 admission when everyone else is charging $1. I highly doubt that I'll try them again.

I filled my tank up on the 5th. Was pleasantly surprised at the fuel economy.

That was 190 miles round trip with an empty bed, but with a cap and 2 people. I avg closer to 12mpg around town.
I honestly don't think that the would get much better fuel economy.

Soo, on that drive to Tampa the Sierra drove great. But there was a weird slapping sound while on the highway. I've never heard this noise before from the truck. But I couldn't tell you the last time it was on the hwy.
But the last time it was on a hwy, it didn't have the cap. Was the noise coming from the cap?
I was confident that it was coming from the front, but where?
My mom thought that it was coming from the roof.
While driving, we are touching one interior panel at time to see if it changes pitch. Even pressed on the overhead console as ive previously done some plastic welding on it.
Nope, nothing.
It sounded like a cargo strap slapping a body panel.
When I get out, I'm checking the windshield molding thinking that it somehow came loose. Nope, not that either.
Ahh ha, found a potential noise maker. The driver side of the wiper cowl was loose. I pull the end cap off & find that the screw mount is broken along with the screw is missing. I also find that 2 clips on the fwd edge are missing.
Someone has clearly been in here before.

Also, one mount is broken off of the driver side end cap.

And the rubber seal is damaged on the passenger side end cap.

The 2000 cowl part # is: 15047072
The 2002 cowl part # is: 15060065
I did not notice any differences between the two parts.
The 2000 L cowl end cap part # is: 15045455
The 2003 L cowl end cap part # is:
15045455
Again, didn't notice any differences between them.
The 2000 R cowl end cap part # is:
15045456
The 2003 R cowl end cap part # is:
15113341 15753702
Still no noticeable differences. But I know that the R cap is different between with & without a Fender mounted antenna. I currently don't remember the years that are involved?

That brings us to the salvage yard haul on Saturday the 14th.
Wiper cowl & washer fluid reservoir from a 2002 Silverado.
The 2 end caps from an 03 Yukon.
Plus the missing screw & clips.
Extra (not needed) door panel courtesy lights.

Oh and the receipt for this lot. $36.08 for everything. Not too bad.

Step one, bag & label the spare parts & put away.
Step two, start stripping so that I can swap washer fluid reservoirs.
Before buying the used one, I filled it with water at the yard and walked around with it, it never leaked.
On mine, while still fully installed, I couldn't determine where the leak was.
Was it the tank? Was it the pump motor? Was it one of the two Seals in the tank? Was it the elbow from the pump to the line? Was it the line?
I have no clue, figured it was safe to swap the entire assembly.

Nope, I'm partially wrong.

Now, knowing that the electrical system changed with the 2003my. I'll stick with the 99-02 electrical parts. Especially if I can't cross reference it. Which in this case, I couldn't on the tank.


As you can see in the pic, the washer fluid tank changed also as is the top half of the washer fluid line.

My 2000 Sierra tank is on the Left.
The 2002 Silverado tank is on the right.

Notice the left side of the tanks.
The 2000 tank is larger. Also, the bump out on the left has clip mounting point for the wheelwell liner. What does that mean? Well, that means, if you don't also swap out to the matching wheelwell liner, the inner spot will not be clipped in , leading to a potential slapping sound when driving?

I'm undecided if want to punch a hole for the clip or swap back to the original tank & just swap motors?

Part # on the 2000 tank is: 15035069
Part # on the 2002 tank is: 15073651

Now that the original tank is out, I'm confident that the pump itself was leaking?

Both pumps have the same part number on them. # 224143196

So that means either in 2001 or 2002, both the washer fluid tank & LF wheelwell liner had revisions and neither can be considered as 99-02 parts.
Funny thing is that on ebay, people are selling my 2000 part number as being correct for 99-06. That is a dimensionally large part to be screwing up on.

Sounds like a fluttering/tapping noise, near the roof/windshield around 60-65MPH+? That thing eluded me for years!

While I decide on what I want to do about the washer fluid tank, I'll start prepping for swapping out the cowl panel.
Everything out of the way.

1st things first. Visual inspection for differences & damages. Especially considering that the part numbers are different.

I don't notice any differences, so onto the repairs.

Now for a slight repair. All of the cowl panels were either missing or broken due to morons.
A little plastic welding and good to go.

These clip areas are thin, so a little on the tough side.

All back together.
