Is it the clutches that wear out on the G80? I remember there was company that sold rebuild kits for them?
I can't remember what those clutches do or how the thing works at the moment.
And not that it matters, but I thought these G80s on the trucks are actually locker-type of differentials, even though everyone calls them "posi." Possibly because of the "clutches"?
I think when the G80 lock, both wheels turn at the same rate, 1:1. On the posi or LSD, there's a certain slippage between each side, hence their name.
Didn't help that GM also used the RPO code G80 on the Camaros, which actually did have a LSD. SMH
