I thought about a 1.5" body lift, but my trailer is a 5th wheel so that was out of the question.

As for lift price I got a rough country 6" shipped in the states for $1200.I think the 6 lug trucks are closer to $900. Just check out roughcountry.com for an idea.

Also from what I understand with the rcx lift is the 4" & 6" are the same lift. 6" just comes with bigger blocks for the rear and you crank the torsion bars more for the front to get to 6". I havent installed mine yet so I can't confirm personally.

900 isnt bad at all

Just as another thing my 2000 fits 285/75r16s with just the stock driver side key maxed and passenger side has more crank left. I'm about .75 or so inches from level.

Honestly not bad at all I prefer it. I live in SC land of sh!tty roads and I can't complain I like it. My father in law has 05 Tahoe 2wd and he prefers the ride in my 2000. But steeper CV angles mean harsher ride.

Your 97 and your 2000 are completely different animals your 97's keys could sit you on the droop stops and give you no suspension play left. While your 2000 won't do that without aftermarket keys or torsion bars that are about 50k miles needing replacement. My 2000 had negative angles when I got it.( differential side was lower than tire side) just FYI.

what causes that?

The negative angles? I have no clue. My cousin had a 99 where the driver side was maxed out and the passenger side was about half way in and mine is at least 2 inches taller. I guess GM put the torsion bars in to allow fir greater factory difference with options and such. Idk.

I wouldn't expect 3 up front that's heavy cranking on the bars IMO. How high do you wanna go?

Try cranking the stock keys first, I'm the same height as a coworker's gmt900 with a leveling kit up front and he's on 285 bfg MTS. The stock keys will leave you with good angles and that will save on front end parts. There's plenty of taller gmt800s around me but my 5'2" wife is happy too.
