Aw! The Triton 5.4, I love Fords, but I hate that motor!
My neighbor across the street has a 2006 with same engine. The hydraulic chain tensioners went bad and problem accelerated to the cams. We installed a crate Ford engine.

This lady's 2010 had already had the chains work done before the cam damage.

Parts have been ordered at RA and should all be here this week, for a 2005 Tahoe LS that I am going to be doing the driver's door hinge pins and door lock actuator, blower motor and resistor assembly. This work is for the widow of aan American Legion friend of mine that passed last year.
I have not done the hinge pins on a GMT800 before but I figure I better learn because I own a 2005 Tahoe Z71. I have done some research and reached out at Tahoe/Yukon Forum and got some info.

Really doesn't look that hard to do, just a few steps for prep by pulling the wiring harnesses from inside at the end of dash and pulling thru the door jam hole with the umbilical cord, unbolting the 3 10mm bolts and lifting door off. I am set for that with my floor jack and a rubber pinch weld pad. I will have a grinder for the pin heads and the special tool for pushing the old pins out after the grinding.

I have done my blower motor and resistor before, so no biggee there.

There will be pics and a write up.
Can't wait to see the results! You know if you have the time you can also do a video of the work. That would be interesting. Also, that way you can look back and see exactly how you took it apart. I dunno, it's something I do so I know it's exactly in reverse order.

I have done you tube videos for other vehicles I have worked on. I cannot do the video and the work at same time and so my girl has to shoot the video. To be quite frank, it slows me down. Pics as I do the work is faster for me and easier. But, thanks for the recommendation and if I change my mind, there will be a video here.

Well, I ended up buying this scanner, instead of adding software to my GM Only Foxwell NT710 Scanner. I could have added software for upcoming work on a 2010 F150 and for future other vehicles BUT, that would have been $100 a pop. I had checked this Autel scanner reviews and was listed at 3 sites "Best Bang For The Buck" at $479 at Amazon. I went to ebay and the price there was $419 and then after checking and finding the Foxwell software add ons at $100 each, I was thinking that if I get the Autel MK808S scanner, it covers over 150 vehicles. Then I went to Amazon to check it and the price was on a Countdown Deal clock for $383.20, for the next 2 hours. I still get a 30 day free return for a full refund and the 1 year warranty. So........I bought it. If I stuck with the Foxwell and updated the software for 4 addition vehicles, that would have been $400 and only 4 vehicles and that scanner is limited compared to the Autel scanner and the Autel scanner has TPMS abilities. Supposed to receive by Thursday.

I called and talked to my shop owner friend about it. When I do get it, I am taking it to his shop and we are going to compare what his $4k Snap On scanner does compared to this Autel MK808S.

More info about the new scanner tomorrow. Got it today and got the wi-fi connection set up and then went to register my account at Autel. All info went in great and needed a register code that they send me via email and one via text. The email one went fine but cannot get any text code at all. Sent an email to support about this and got a return email with a ticket number for reference. I will also have to wait to call the support till 9 am EST. Once I get registered and get the scanner online, I will report back.

Busy all day putting a new canopy cover on my 10x20 canopy in front of my garage. Rains here in Oregon. Then I pressure washed the entire driveway. I am beat. Called Autel tech support this morning at 6 am my time. Got the scanner registered asap and reset my password with no problems and then showered while the scanner was on and did 79 updates. It is going with me to my shop owner friend's shop and we are going to see how this scanner does compared to his Snap On scanner. Will report back asap.

Just scheduled tonight for Wed and Thur of next week. Friend's 2005 Tahoe LS for driver's door hinge pins, driver's door lock actuator, blower motor and resistor. Said she also has a problem at the left front wheel area. Will cover with me when she drops off Tuesday afternoon to leave the Tahoe for work.

Very soon, before Tahoe, 2010 F150 5.4 poor fuel mileage but no CEL.

Inspect a 2005 Toyota Camry, low mileage and get ready to sell it.

So how did the comparison go? Out of curiosity, does it diagnose gauge clusters? I don't know anything about scanners or ever how to read them.

He had 4 trucks in the shop and was busy. I could not stay because my home defense Mossberg Shockwave shotgun came in and I had to go get it. I left the scanner with him and he is gonna attach it to a truck/vehicle when he can in the rest of today or Monday. He will report back to me. I will then report here. It was all basically a comparison of the two scanners and I did not want to hold up his work in the shop.
