Have you started the negotiations and showed them the inspection report? Yea, I checked a couple places and using a national average of 27.5 miles per hour and using 4900 engine hours, that is approx 137000 miles. So, does sound like a bit of idling time but I would noy be afraid at the right price. Will it be a daily driver for you?

I haven't spoken to the dealer yet because it was close to closing time when I got the call from the ppi. The truck will be my my daily commuter to work 3-5 days of the week and also used for running service calls (my side hustle). I average 1,100 miles per month. So just for shits and giggles, I literally just checked the hours on my 2019 f150 47k miles and 1900 hours total. I think I overreacted when I heard the hours over the phone. The truck was listed on March 25th so I know I can get the price down with the little things it needs, might be able to have the dealer cover the shipping cost which will be around 800-1k

How long has he had it for sale? He may say, if he has to ship it, the price is firm. I forget where you live.
Been listed since March 25th 2025, there's only 2 shops in that town that do ppi and I know for sure the dealer knows them personally because it's in a tiny town. Makes me worry about for how long it's been listed because the good ones sell within a week or so. I'm 12 hours away drive time. The closest airport is 1.5 hours away and tickets are close to 900 round trip

I found where the auction site was, the first link is in Eu I think. The second link is from Spokane, it says clean title but also says total loss vehicle. I don't see any front end damage from the auction site. The odometer reads 96,972 but I noticed the cel and brake light, also the busted rear driver window (dealer says he replaced the motor). On the dealers site, the vehicle is listed with 96,981km so it got 9 miles added onto it after the dealer got it from the auction.

I bought a Carfax and it isn't much different from the free one but here's what I've gathered...

2nd owner purchased it on 1/25/06 with 5,151miles. The vehicle has had 9 oil changes until 06/04/09 ending with 17,370 miles. Which would average 1,357 miles in-between services granted they were all done within 2-4 months. I guess that would be why the truck has such high engine hours but also makes me think ...was this truck used to plow snow?

Sorry for the long post, maybe I'm getting too much into my own mind or maybe it's the whiskey talking :p. A buddy of mine has a 2003 1500 5.3 4x4 with 86k miles and only 1810 hours. The one I'm looking at has 96k miles with 4900 hours ...I think I'll pass

If you do not NEED a 3/4 ton, then a 1/2 ton is fine.

Something to keep in mind on your buddies truck. Some of these generation trucks reset the engine hour meter when changing batteries. Not all the time but there’s been a few I’ve seen. My wife’s 04 Yukon 1/2 ton seems accurate but my diesel definitely reset last year when I changed the batteries. So it’s not always a perfect record. That’s all.

@99Sierra2500 yes I think so too. @ORVietVet I was only comparing my buddy's hours on his truck vs the one I was looking at. He is not selling his 1/2 ton
I knew you were comparing. I was and am curious if you are going to use it on the side business and need a 3/4 to haul with that.

Hell, the only reason I got this new to me K2500HD, was because I knew how it was taken care of and we are gonna pull a bigger trailer.

What year/brand/model of truck are we talking about that reset the engine hours on battery replacement? That seems sketchy :(

Here is a beautiful one that has low mileage and looks great. I would likely go look and buy this one if I did not have mine.

I have texted and emailed the owner of this truck, with no response yet. Maybe had Saturday plans and will get back to me tomorrow. The price is pretty good if the truck is as good as the ad says.

@ORVietVet I did not try to reach out to the seller. However, I looked at a few I've found, did a ppi on one and didn't like it. Like I said before, didn't want to waste anyone's time but I found this one in Reno Nevada which I'll post. Price is good, mileage is good, has a detailed Carfax. I'm getting the PPI done tomorrow from the shop that has actually worked on the truck for a few years. Comes with the original tailgate too!

Yes, depending on what the inspector says. Likely can have seepage or leaks at the transmission and oil cooling lines. If you need the shell, that is a plus or if you don't, then you can sell it. If you buy it, will you fly out and drive back or have it shipped? I zoomed in on the one tire and looks to be ok, and hope the others are too. What are you gonna put in the dash in place of the ashtray? You may have found the one truck you need and want. If you do get it, I hope you negotiate a satisfying price and then posts pics here, asap.
