Bought caps to protect my bedrails....

But this was not a good idea. I bought some diamond plate caps to cover the perfect rails that were on my truck when I bought it and well it didn't turn out so good.













Not the greatest pics but you can tell the rust I have to deal with now, as well as how bad they ate down into the paint.I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do to correct this yet. But if your thinking about this kind of cap, don't. Just don't lol.

Yes I've got enough of it to deal with on my 78, don't really want to deal with it on this truck too lol.

Did you put some padded foam underneath? My truck came with them when I bought it and I put my back rack on and after about a year the rail started digging into my bed so needless to say they're coming off after I sand it down and paint

Yep...I could have guessed that would happen especially putting screw holes in your bed rail. that's why the black caps attached by double sided tape is MUCH better. I guess you live and your learn :)
