Hello GMT800 Members. I just acquired a 2005 Cadillac Escalade from Southern California and drove it home 2,400 miles to Michigan. I'm sure I'll be searching the forum here for tips and advice. First thing I need to do is replace the rear shocks and air compressor so the Auto Leveling System will work. It was a bit interesting towing my Terrain home from Cali without the leveling system working. She was squatting a bit. Next, I will be applying Blaster Surface Shield to keep the rust at bay.

Edit; Actually, on closer inspection, it is a look-alike crest with "MC2" embossed on it.

Received a set of Vigor air shocks and a Dorman air compressor. Should have the suspension back to normal shortly.

The Escalade developed a coolant leak. Bad water pump gaskets... Following my usual "While I'm in there" thought process, I replaced both belts and tensioners and the idler pully while replacing the water pump. I threw in a new thermostat too, just because... I flushed the system with distilled water twice before tearing into it. I wasn't able to get the gunk out of the coolant reservoir, so I threw a new one in...
I also picked up one of those Vacuum Refill kits from the jungle web site. That makes refilling the system super simple. Pressure tested it for 20 minutes after it was all back together. Held 15 PSI no problem.

I recently found out that you can delete the AC belt tensioner, by using a stretch-type belt from the newer LS-based engines (2009-2010 is around the time it got deleted). The pro is you get rid of the potential seizing of that tensioner and losing the belt (that happened to me once on my 99). The con is the belt needs to be cut off to remove. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Does require a special tool to install the "stretch to fit" belt. Numerous designs.
