He did respond back that the 85597996 # is the updated number and that has been discontinued.
yes
all three are , but exist in short supply in dealer inventory

The aftermarket makes them too, all of its expensive
What year is your truck? My 05 the front sensor failed (15103523) and the aftermarket has new ones for 150-250$
And the factory replacement 10370150 and finally 85597996 are expensive
They only work 2005-2007 i think

I asked and he responded that the 85597996 is the updated # for both the 1500 and the 2500 and that it is a discontinued part. If you can find an 85597996, it will work but if cannot find, I guess the Dorman one is it or the Wells Vehicle Electronics one:

are you certain about that? that doesnt make sense to me ,since a 1500 uses 2, if the same sensor did both it doesnt account for the aftermarket having 2 different ones and gm using different ones to begin with

I am going by what the GM parts specialist is saying. Sounds like update covers both but I will check again.

Have not heard back from him yet when you look at the RA listings, the Wells part #5S13678 fits both the 1500 and the 2500, depending on numerous options of bed length and whether is ext cab or crew cab. You can look it all up. I do not see anywhere on RA that says 2 of whatever sensor is required and the 2500 takes just one.

Or I am completely confused.

I know my contact will get back to me but he is at work do his GM parts work for a dealer.

According to my GM parts contact, the updated 85597996 fits both the 1500 and the 2500.

Did not see any NOS anywhere but that does not mean someone may have it.

Not much happening recently, finally ordered and received my passenger rear window regulator. It hasn’t worked since I bought it and my son is finally old enough now that he’s forward facing and wanting to look out of windows. So I figured now was the best time to fix that for him IMG_1518.jpeg

You will see that the "remove the old and replace the new" is pretty easy. I have done 3 of them. Tape that window up out of the way and it will go pretty smooth.

At the same time I’m replacing the regulator I’m going to swap out the factory rear speakers for the DS18s I have for it. Finally found a set of 6.5” brackets from a non bose truck for the rear doors. Passenger speaker in the rear rattles so I’m pretty excited to be “loud” on all four corners. While I’m at it I’ll disable the factory sub since it’s on the way out too. The two 10s I have behind the seat give me plenty of bump anyway

im down to using -2 bass almost every song and only hearing out of my left rear speaker. (extended cab small one)
my driver will randomly work for chimes here and then, but i barely get to hear music from it lol!

ANyone know a good set of nothing fancy base radio speakers would run , i dont know brands or anything. Im not going to be putting an amp in (too much wire running) and i dont want to hack up anything to put larger ones in , so the 4 speakers i basically would only do remove and replace and the radio will stay stock till i bother to find a harness for my JVC and a bracket to mount it
Only going that way because it will "work" and I "have" it already lol

I replaced a friends regulator on his Avalanche last year. The funny thing was, he was driving down the highway in a full tilt rain storm when his window dropped all the way down. We have very few big rain storms, and very little highway, so the odds of him getting completely drenched from this about one in a million.

Well I guess I need to pull the connector apart on the front sensor and give it a good cleaning and apply some dielectric grease. This morning it never threw an airbag light. Been good all day, hopefully tomorrow I’ll get that done and swap the window regulator IMG_1557.jpeg

That connector is rarely the issue. The issue is usually the ground bolt/retaining bolt and the body of the sensor where the steel sleeve is clean it up good, use antiseize. Same concept as the wheel speed sensors rust jacking
Except the front sensor often the rust jacking just destroys the electrical inside it.

Cleaned it up to no avail, sensor looks swelled up too. May have to start looking for spares in parking lots… ;)
