This will be a very simple build. It might take a while to finish but it will get done. WE have been wanting a street truck ever since I sold my drag truck (6.50 index s10) The better half gave me full permission to order a whipple f150 but I couldn't justify a large payment for basically a toy. SO I'm going to do what I do best, build a truck. I wanted a v6 truck and it had to be a 99-02 rcsb in white. It was already lowered on really ugly wheels.

Plans…

Mild 5.3, 400 to the wheels (building)

4.10 gears and Yukon (completed)

rear brake conversion for 15in wheels (completed)

17/15 Chrome Race Stars (completed)

Traction bars (completed)

Get the body PDR'd

Carpet

White Esky style door handles

Tahoe/suburban mirrors with puddle lights or sport mirrors

New OEM lights all around (completed)

Atomic Fab suspension parts

Still in the process of putting together the 5.3…

Amazon head studs
Richard holdener truck cam
King bearings through out
All new seals, gaskets, lifter trays etc.
Possibly a set of flat top pistons
Rings gapped
Get the heads cleaned up and milled.

Most likely run the Nitrous Outlet plate kit on the truck.

Looking good!

What are thinking for the pistons? Hypereutectic or forged?

Thanks! Probably get gen4 rods, cheap summit forged pistons and gap the rings @30. I argue with myself a lot about this since there is a ton of SBE 5.3s on the bottle also.

I really wish I would have found a 6.0 4l80e to start with, build a 407 and call it a day.

Yup. You absolutely can't beat a 6.0/4L80e combo. Heck, I would take STOCK 6.0/4L80e in a lightweight RCSB, LOL. I bet that would be a fun truck to drive around and do burnouts on the way to Starbucks or whatever.

That’s the goal. Won’t be the fastest but if I can hang with the 5.0 mustangs and corvettes I would be happy.

Another option I was thinking about was boring it out and putting 3.898 pistons in it and making a iron block 5.7

5.7 iron block LS would be cool.

I think if I ever yank out the 5.3 I swapped into my 99 Silverado, that's what I would go with...

Well the v6 has started to develop a misfire at cruising speeds. Throws no codes. I’ve done the basic tune up, and replaced a few sensors. Still has the miss and I don’t want to put parts on something that’s going to be removed. I MIGHT pull the distributor and see how bad the gear is wore, the engine shows 274,xxx miles. It’s a bummer because I wasn’t really ready to pull the engine and start the swap just yet.

i might just for the heck of it. It’s odd because it doesn’t miss at idle. Feels like the ignition is falling out. Along with the tune up I replaced the coil and icm. I have a crank shaft position sensor on its way. I will change it out and pull the distributor. If the distributor has noticeable issues I guess I will drop a new one in it.
