yeah that would be worth it, I have fond memories riding next to my dad in his repo/wrecker truck. Nothing better than cruising with dad.
Careful.. I'm on a recruiting mission for drivers. We have a great core crew but I'm tired of this revolving door of knuckleheads we've got that keep filling the extra spots. I feel like I probably shouldn't even save their phone #'s until they make it past 90 days.

I worked a bit on my actual hobby: woodworking and furniture building. I admit I have too many hobbies :-(

I had started working on this hand tool case, then started on working on other things, mainly truck stuff. It's been like 2 years. I'm BAD about starting on something, then finding something else before finishing the first project. Weak trait that I got from my Mom, although she's such a hard worker and very ingenious and creative.

Anyways, I finally made progress :) . Based on this, but not as nearly as intricate on the joinery and mostly pine and pine plywood with a bit of birch plywood, basically what you find at the big box hardware store.

Over the years, I have driven a few wreckers. Worked a real bad accident involving a tractor/trailer that ran a stop sign and ran over the top of a family sedan with 2 adults and 2 kids that all died. After that, I handed my keys to the owner and told him I was done.

Some of those tools look old, what is the oldest and how old is your draw saw? I have a few old tools I have gathered over the years but my dad has some really old (late 1800's early 1900's) ones from his grandfather.

The draw saw? The Japanese-style pull saw? That actually a HF-special.

The brass-backed back saws I bought new from Lie-Nielsen, as are the 2 bench planes. Maybe 10 years ago but I haven't used them much in the last 7 years, just getting back into the craft. They are still in production: https://www.lie-nielsen.com/

I do have a tote in my attic with older planes I bought, cleaned up and sharpened up, as well as some really old panel saws, Disstons and such. I don't remember how old those are, but I want to say pre-WW2 for sure. I sharpened them and they are actually usable for crosscutting and ripping.

You used to be able to buy these older tools for cheap. Then folks started buying them up, hoarding them and collecting and re-selling, and prices have gone thru the roof! SMH

Me and my girl just got back from a 1.5 hour drive. Really nice outside right now, gonna be raining soon.

There is a main drag/road a block over and our street runs parallel. We can hear the rice rockets racing at night sometimes. We saw a group of them gathering at a major intersection and one was leaving his inside lane and then crossed the center line and was riding right at me so that he would not have to wait at light. I was sooooo tempted to swerve toward him but my girl said "NO"!!!!!! He pissed me off because I had to move over a little to avoid him. I am old and that crap pisses me off.

Just worked a bit on the 04 project suburban. The PO had replaced one of the sockets with the wrong one. I had an extra one because I replaced one in my Silverado and had bought a pair.

A few months ago I screwed up some headlights and taillights for the suburbans. I cleared them in the evening and I left them outside and the temperature dropped and there was dew. They turned white. It was horrible! I bought some used, and some new, to get the daily driver suburban with something.

So try again: these are for the 04 project suburban. I think they turned out ok. I had some leftover quart of clear with medium hardener, but added some slow reducer. Temperature was kinda hot, felt like mid-80s. Shot it with my A610 Amazon special gun, around 45 psi. Did a test pattern on a piece of cardboard and atomization looked good. So i proceeded.

This is practice, so I can feel confident when it's time to paint my Silverado. Hopefully soon.

I bit the bullet and finally replaced my factory radio. I deleted my center console a few years and had lost the CD player, and the factory cassette stopped working. Not that I even listen to cassettes or CDs anyways, LOL.

I got a new job that's almost 30 miles city traffic so I'm starting or alternate the Silverado weekly.

I bought a Sony something 3200. Installation was pretty easy using the Crutchfield adapter. Only took like 30 minutes! I'll figure out how to use the CarPlay, but seem pretty easy.

I did have to order a new bezel because apparently the 99-02 have the narrower stereo vs the 03+. They didn't have my neutral tan or whatever this interior color is, so I got to track down a spray bomb of that and paint it later. In the meantime, I'm sporting a "2-tone" similar to the SUVs :)
use the paint code on your RPO sticker to get the matching color

Welp, my youngest brother was telling me he went to look at an OBS for a project (another one!). I talked him out of it because it was not even running (burnt 700R4...SMH), needed a ton of work (No AC) and suggested he look into a GMT800.

So he found one later, went to check it out, and bought it! Turned out to be a one-owner, 2001 Silverado pretty nicely kept with the 4.3. The roof is faded and hood looks fair. I told him to get that repainted and it'll look like new again. AC and everything works , which is a plus in my book.

I'd give y'all some crap for getting an 800 instead of a 400 but I almost forgot what forum I'm on.. this isn't gmt400.com, LOL

Truck looks nice! Agreed; some repaint up top and it'll be really sharp.
