it all depends on cost, find one else where and buying them would be expensive but taking one off a work vehicle is a steal, ive been hearing alot of people complain about their 4l80es though, they are good for power but i wouldnt use one unless your 4l60e wont be able to handle the power, 1st gear on a 4l80e is rediculously long so your gonna get really crappy gas mileage

Hmmm, I don't know much about the 80E, but my 60E is doin pretty well. It'll need a rebuild before too long, I suppose I could bullet proof it and stick it behind that 6.0

more strength, think about it, the trailblazer SS has a 4l70e, and from the factory has a 400 hp LS2, and that tranny is designed to handle that 400 hp and have a 100,000 mile warranty from the dealer, so realistically it can probbaly handle 550 hp from the factory, as to where a standard 4l60 is only rated at maybe 350 hp, and people burn out the clutches all the time

Ah, okay well hell yeah lol. Them SS Trailblazers are sweet.
Yeah whatever I build whether it's the 6.0 or the 5.3, it'll be more for towing and mud more than anything, think the 70E could handle a bunch of torque?

yeah, i dont ever recommend a 4l80e unless you are making some racecar, or going to be towing ALOT of weight daily, 4l70e would be good

Cool, that's what I needed to know haha.
It'll be just a daily driver/toy, but I do like to be able to haul stuff.
I got over race cars after my Firebird Formula lol

people also go with 4l80es because they are a little more popular, i mean they have been puting them in 1 tons since the 90s, as where they only put 4l70es in a few vehicles

Yeah, that's a pretty good reason to go with it. Lol I hadn't heard of the 70E but maybe a couple times. And it was never anybody having one, just wanting to convert their 60E to one

off the top of my head, i cant think of anything but a trailblazer ss that came with them, might have came in other things, alot of people talk about doing a 6 speed auto swap, im just not sure how it would be working the electronics on it, i know your stock computer couldnt control it but a 6 speed would ideally be the best but probably the most work, i dont think it takes much to get a 4l70e to work

I think it would be a bit of a headache swapping to a 6 speed haha.
From what I've heard I can take my 4L60E and when I rebuild it I can buy a kit to swap it to a 4L70E

4l70e also came in later model Silverado SS and VortecMAX trucks. In a light trailblazer 4l70e works great but a heavy truck easy to limp. Plenty of stories out there about N/A Silverado SS destroying the stock trans.
