I figured I could find a broke esky cluster so I could rob the needles and lens/trim rings but I haven’t had any luck.

So…

Right now I will probably paint my needles orange or buy red needles. I don’t want to change the bulbs just because I want my gauge cluster to match the rest of the dash lights.

There's simply less of them out there. The cluster with the transmission temperature gauge I swapped into my 99 Silverado I took to a local guy to get the mileage corrected. He said those clusters are pretty rare and he hardly sees them anymore, and this was like in 2020.

Supposedly, there's a way to modify a 03-07 into the 99-02. I believe it's been mentioned on the performance truck.net? I don't believe anyone has done it from memory .

I looked into this when I first got my 2000. There was one guy in TX (PI Clusters) who figured it out and was offering the service online for a hefty fee, however there were some apparently sketchy business dealings and I do not believe it is an option anymore. A custom overlay/LEDs or an elusive 2500HD or Escalade cluster are about the only options now.

I had an esky cluster in my wife’s 01 Tahoe in the early 00s, I ended up removing and selling the cluster when we sold the Tahoe. I remember selling it for a few hundred dollars, I think that was 10+ years ago.

It's fancier and goes to 120 MPH vs 100 mph on the standard one. Also has the transmission temperature gauge like the 2500 clusters.

I did the transmission temp gauge on my 2005 Tahoe Z71 and is still at 100 mph because I am not gonna go that fast and was $250 with lifetime warranty at Digital Dash Solutions.
