I am guessing that you mean you installed 6 of the 5/8" washers between the hub face and the back of the wheel and that gave you the clearance you were not expecting?
No. The washers go between the steering knuckle machined surface where the mounting bolts attach to the caliper, and the calipers. So 2 washers total, one for each bolt.

I had read some folks run spaces there where you mentioned, so the calipers clear the wheel.

Ok, with the torque spec of the caliper bracket bolts being closer to 185 ft. lbs., that is way safer.

Here's a photo of the washers.

I tightened down the wheel with the cordless impact and I'm getting a tiny bit of grinding. I think it's that raised boss on the calipers. My buddy said just shave that down, no problem.

I just took the truck for a spin to do some brake break-in. Awesome mod! Trucks stops with much less effort and very smooth!

I wound up ordering some thicker shims as per the other thread we have somewhere here that @adriver posted (from Amazon: https://a.co/d/2wiCS06 ) And I ground a nice chamfer on the inside of those calipers for clearance. The only thing I don't like is driver's side brake hose is now too tight, not much slack. The old calipers have the hose connection at the top, where as these are in the middle. Maybe I'll look for a longer hose. (Edit: I have lifting knuckles on this truck, I think that explains the hose issue...)

Also, ever since I rebuilt the front end I get a sort of binding noise when the suspension flexes. It looks like my coil springs binds on the upper mount. Maybe I can recompress and center it?

Well, I survived a week of city highway traffic commuting. Truck brakes are NICE! I highly recommend anyone driving a 6 lug upgrade if you want to upgrade. I had to buy some shingles for my detached garage roof replacement. Poor truck...

In other news, I finally had time to mess around with my K3500 beater. Looks like boost valve fell out. Doh!

What do you guys think of this color scheme? I had never seen it, but my buddy Shakenfake from PT.net/SS says it's factory. Paint looks very nice, like it was garaged or parked under a carport. Very clean truck with low mileage for a DEAL!

I will look for another GMT800 down the road for my little boy who's 7. He's already asking what truck I'm gonna give him when he's older, lol. Apparently my older son (13) already told him he's getting this 99 brown/gold truck :)

Somebody buy it!
I kind of like that two tone, don't see many any more but I have always liked that Indigo blue and it looks nice with the brown

Where's the food thread BTW? Maybe I don't have access to that yet?

If you guys like catfish, try this simple recipe. It's very tasty. 30 minutes in the oven and done. I used catfish nuggets, but you can use steaks. Very healthy too.

Salmon burgers? First time making them and wife and kids liked them! Made a mayonnaise, cilantro and lime dressing.

Chicken thighs and breasts. Simple seasoning with a bit if paprika I think is what my wife added. Grilled, of course

I hope I don't get banned for posting about food on a truck forum. (Monkey covering eyes emoji)

Ummm, so I was checking fluid levels on my truck and poking around and I noticed I'm missing some flap between my passenger fender and door. I've been having this kinda annoying intermittent fluttering sound when driving on the highway, usually after like 65 MPH.

I looked at my suburban and that one has something there. I took photos for comparison and added arrows on the suburban.

I guess I gotta remove the fender and go hunt that thing at a wrecking yard now...

Well, now I'm second guessing myself if the 99 should have that piece. I asked my buddy who has a 99 Silverado and an 06 Sierra Duramax to check his trucks and he'll check later today. I'll also ask my brother who recently bought a 01 Sierra. Could very well be a sub-generation thing or a SUV vs truck thing?

Anyone wants to check their trucks and chime in, I would appreciate it and probably prevent me from going down a rabbit hole :).

That’s NVH jute or cavity filler. My park avenue has it there too

Noise Vibration Hashness, right?

I have a book that talks about the history of the LS engines development and they mention NVH several times. I don't know what that was initially. Then again, I'm kinda new wrenching on vehicle.
