Another build of mine :)...

2006 Suburban 2500 LT LQ4/4L80e/4.10/2wd. I bought in 2020 and it was generally taken care of. It's my daily driver and just fix stuff here and there. It's in the background in my avatar photo.

Anyways my door handles were starting to look pretty bad. I painted one of the doors last summer and have a bit of paint left over, so I'm looking at way to use that up... ordered some generic Kenwood speakers...and some of that acoustical mats...doh!

Plan on painting the handles tomorrow.

My front speaker grills were starting to look a bit rusty. I'm guessing when I open the door in the rain the metal has started lightly rusting. I found a this product very closely matches my interior. Last time I must have picked up the wrong color. I had to track another aerosol can. The grills remove very easily after removing the door panels, just bend the little tabs out, and it comes straight out. The Bose logo you can also remove easily.

I'm kinda surprised the Bose speakers are actually significantly heavier than the Kenwoods. These aren't top quality speakers tho, so we'll see how they sound. I deleted my center console, and with it the Bose amplifier and sub. I recently installed a Sony something 3200.

I was going to cut the harness and solder new spade terminals, but dang, there's literally no slack in the wire. So I ordered the wire adapters.

Does anyone know how to fix the door panel pull bar? Mine have sort of pulled out. I'm thinking of maybe JB Welding them back together? IDK?

I grilled some chicken drumsticks and some quail (first time making these little guys), and they were pretty tasty. Will definitely make them again :).

I ordered from this place that sells meats and delivers to your door. There some exotic things there.

Welp, one of the handles has a broken return spring. IDK if it was already broken or I somehow broke it when I removed it. Looks like RA does have a replacement but it will take a week to get here.

Anybody use this Lizardskin product? I picked up a used, almost brand new spray kit from FBMP. Seems like they make a ceramic thermal insulation and a sound control products. Looks like it's used mostly on vintage vehicles, but can't see why I can't use it on "my" vintage GMT800s :).

I'm thinking of spraying the inside of the door panels with the sound insulation product.

I feel like I'm getting sucked into the sound deadening rabbit hole. SMH

Umm, I just realized the 00-01 SUVs had a sub on the rear driver's side panel, but the 03-06 have it under the console. Since I deleted my center console, I lost the Bose amp and subwoofer. The rear panel even still has that circle recessed back there, which I had always wondered why it was there. Here's a pretty good guide to the stereo systems used on the SUVs, but I think some of this still applies to the trucks: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-gnpmhSHENoc/learn/2000-2006-chevrolet-suburban-and-gmc-yukon-xl.html

So maybe I can find myself a factory sub box for the rear, buy a bare subwoofer and a little amplifier and hook that up.

My handle arrived today, so I will be working on that project this weekend.

I haven't finished painting the door handles. I had an issue getting dry spray down inside the recesses (sand piling) when I applied the sealer on Sunday evening. So I'm waiting and sanding that off. Sealer on the mirrors went on smooth though.

I did install some of the sound deadening peel and stick inside the sheet metal of the 4 doors. Wasn't as bad as I thought. I also ordered a 2 gallon pail of the Lizardskin sound deadening material to spray the inside of the door panels. Hopefully next weekend.

I'm rebuilding a portion of a fence on house and work is crazy busy.

I love sound deadening, it makes a huge difference to me. Back ground noises dont work well with my bad hearing.

I got the basecoat and clearcoat applied. I think it came out fine. Mosquitos are insane here in the evenings because of all the rain we've had lately.

My 01 that the sub in the rear like you mentioned.

I removed it and ran the speaker wires into a line converter and mounted my amp behind the panel were the sub once was. I used jl audio subs. Fosgate door speakers and the factory radio.

Thanks @Cadillacmak !

I have to admit, I prefer the chrome mirror caps and the black doorhandles like on my 99 Silverado, because you don't have to worry about paint fading, chips, wear and such. Oh well :-(

Also, has anyone noticed the black handles have like tiny pieces of fibers? Like if they are glass fiber reinforced plastic, maybe? You can see it in the sun. They also feel more solid to me. Maybe it's a psychological thing in my mind. IDK

These ones I painted say "ABS" on the back.

A quick comparison on the door handle I replaced...not too bad. I think the color matched pretty good. Of course, now I'm seeing all kinds of little scratches here and there and door dings. Doh!

I started masking the 2 door panels for the Lizardskin sound deadening stuff. Not sure what this little fabric is on the inside, near the top of the speaker grill. It's got a sticky back and a few staples. It took a while to tape up these panels. I'm wondering now if I should also apply the ceramic thermal insulation product, in addition to the sound deadening stuff?

...me not trying to go down the rabbit hole... LOL and SMH.

I'm driving the suburban to work tomorrow w/o any door panels. It's gonna feel pretty gettho, but oh well (hey, it drives! LOL)
