What have you done to your GMT800 lately?

The 8.1 radiator is (unfortunately) somewhat unique and a bit larger, even over the dmax. Center to center of those top two mounting bolts is 42.0" (pictured lol) I'd say 44-45" overall, cap to cap. Yeah I normally would've preferred to have gone the oem route with swapping in those Tahoe fans, wire it into the PCM and add them in hptuners. But to fit, I would already be in custom shroud territory... and some efan/8.1 posts had me worried that tahoe cfm numbers can't support 8.1 + towing... so I decided I would make two of these fans work after coming across this amazing webpage https://www.240turbo.com/BrushlessFans.html They are fairly available, but a bit pricey. On fleabay they run $250-300+tax each but I managed to get both for $250 locally from FB, 2016+ Camaro SS/ZL1 fan, PN 84100128. All-in I'll probably be about $500 spent and still hang on to my original fan and shroud for a bit.

What I was saying is that a stock system that all you have to do is fab the mounts and may be big enough, 2 fans, that would bolt in easier.

All good that was my first choice when I was researching this. Based on what I was able to find, I didn't think they moved enough air. I believe the tahoe fans come in 5000-6000 cfm combined. I think the consensus is my factory fan is around 9-10000. These measured at 5600, so 11200 for two. Everyday use I don't think the difference is a big deal, I just don't want any issues at the extreme, like towing. I found some duramax efan conversion threads that worry about this and sort of drew my own similar conclusion

I should be able to start work this weekend and get a thread going with more info.

Yea, I was concerned about size and did not think of the flow amount. Good call.

i used a YT video on how to remove the lower DS seat cushion, so didn't have to remove seat.
makes job much simpler.

makes job much simpler.
IMO removing the seat is pretty easy, and worth it to make easier access to all the various connectors (if you've got power/heated/blah blah seats like I had.) Unplugging a few of those were tricky even with the seat out. Armed with the knowledge the edges of the sheetmetal are razor sharp, I still managed to cut myself a bit. I can't imagine doing all that with the seat in place.

Sorry no pics today….

But finally changed out the rear hatch/window lock/unlock mechanism. It started giving me issues a few years back in TN but only in cold weather (under 30F). When we got back home it was fine. Don’t think much of it until our recent trip to WA and with the cold weather again it started acting up. So I ordered a new oe GM part. Got it swapped out today. Not to difficult. Now I’ll be ready for the next cold weather trip :p.

This was on the 2004 Yukon XL 2500 LBZ.

I was planning to tear into the interior a bit more on the 2000 z71 but the good weather shifted priority to cleaning up the yard a bit and helping my mom get the garden ready for this year. Maybe I’ll get the seats and carpet out tomorrow.

I just did a driver's door lock actuator on my friend's 2005 Tahoe LS. It would not work when was cold here in Eugene, Or. Warm weather, all good.

the seats have some funky bolts holding them in.
by the time i collected tools to remove whole seat, i would be done removing cushion, seat cover and re-installing the new foam and cover.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm saying - you have manual seats, no connections to pull. On a power seat there's a lot of connections and several of them are hard/maybe impossible to reach with the seat installed.

Yea, just yesterday I removed a front seat on a 2005 Tahoe for access to the brake pedal removal for bushing replacement. E18 female torx at front and E14 female torx at rear and seat came right out, after popping a plastic cover off of the 2 harness plug ins, for access. Just the R&R time was about 30 minutes.

Hvac repair,

confirmed blower motor for defrost etc was working.
cleaned fan and defrost/heat ducks as best as i could before re-installing blower.
quite a collection of crap over the years.

replaced blower motor resistor board, hvac system back in action.

so far, being new to GMT800's, surprised how easy they are to work on.
clips, clamps, minimal nuts and bolts, haven't busted any of the plastic interior stuff yet, haha.

I jacked up the front end to loosen the torsion bars. Found that they were tightened all the way. Checked the front suspension while I was under there.
