I am starting to gather info and parts for repairs and maintenance for this new to me 2004 Silverado K2500HD. From now on, all work to be done and thinking about doing will be here.

So far I have bought Genuine GM engine oil cooler lines and transmission cooler lines. I also have bought GM transmission filter and seal and all the shift solenoids and harnesses, as recommended by a member at Tahoe/Yukon Forum screen name @NickTransmissions. He has a bunch of info on you tube videos as well.

I have plans for different mirrors and have conversed with a few members here about that. Just a few pics to start with and then of course, as the work starts and progresses, I will build the thread. I forgot to say that I have already done the front headlight assemblies and the front park/turn signal assemblies.

One thing that really stands out about this truck is that there is no rust at all, no dents, no scratches, no interior tears or breaks and all works as should. The seller's son is a personal friend of mine and an automotive/light truck repair shop owner and is also an ASE Master Tech, that helped his dad take care of this truck. The seller was the second owner. I am the 3rd owner. Bought the truck Dec.1, 2024.

Since the pics were taken, it now has the completely stock air cleaner housing reinstalled. The seller had kept it all and was easy to install. We had agreed that I would return his K&N set up to him.

I love that truck. So clean and nice.
Yea, saw that truck for the first time about 10 months ago at my friend's shop, when his dad stopped by. I looked it all over and told him if he even wanted to sell it, let me know. Last July he contacted me and said he was gonna downsize the truck. I looked at it at my house. Found seepage at the transmission and engine oil cooler lines and seepage at one of the hydro-boost hoses. Worst part was the tires were worn out and it drove like crap because of them. I offered $13,500 and he said no. Then in November he contacted me and told me he put all new tires on the truck. Still had the seepage points but the drive was now smooth. I knew I low balled at $13,500 and with new tires I offered $15,000. he thought about it over night and called me the next day and said $16,500. I came back with $15,500 and he agreed with me at $16k and the deal was done. This is gonna be a great truck for a long time.

Very nice truck. Well cared for.
I always really liked that color interior.

When I got the Yukon xl 2500 for the dmax swap it had the tan interior. I started pondering swapping over to the charcoal color. But I tried a door panel swap and determined the color combo seemed off to me. I kept the tan but two-toned the interior a bit so at least it’s unique. And the dually
Body I sold with the opposite is another snowflake out there.

GM knew what they were doing with the color combinations that’s for sure.

Enjoy the truck!

This was a non z71 I found at a local dealer and sorta got the idea to 2 tone mine.

The biggest difference is the door panel also has the dark gray for the door lock panel where mine is still the original tan color.

Wow, that looks amazing @bigdogYJ !

Both my 04 and 06 Suburbans 2500 LT trim have the 2 tone interiors. When I bought the first one, I thought someone had swapped stuff, lol. It's like a dark gray and a lighter gray combination. I'm actually going to order materials to redo the headliners and haven't decided what color to go with. My brother suggested the darker gray to match the plastic pillars. IDK

I'm personally not a fan of the 2 tone interior TBH.

My 99 Silverado has that tan interior which became kinda rare on the later production years, I believe.

Not concerned but did not find paperwork for the plugs and wires on this truck. Likely done by the owner's son, my shop owner friend, and that is why does not show on the supplied CarFax but the CarFax is not up to date and current mileage. Sight check today. has no running problems at all but I just "gotta know".

As it turns out, cannot find fuel filter info either. RA does list an external fuel filter. I would have thought it would be the internal tank filter, like my 2005 Tahoe.

Could be wrong but I think '04 is when they went internal. MAYBE '05. Could also be one of those mid-year changes.

Turns out that in 2004, calls for external fuel filter for the 2500HD with the 5.3, 6.0 and 8.1 engines. In 2005 the 6.0 still had the external fuel filter and the 8.1 did not and in 2006 it shows no external fuel filter for any of them. This is all at RA. I will be crawling under there to check.

According to the previous owner, my shop owner friend's father, said the reason the plugs, wires and fuel filter do not show on the CarFax, is that his son replaced all that right after he bought it. It does show, on CarFax, that all fluids had been done at about 80k miles. P/S, brakes, coolant, transmission, diffs and transfer case.....

There is only seepage at the oil and transmission fluid cooling line rubber crimp fitting areas and I have those but am waiting to replace them when stays warmer.

Oh...

I found a few threads on SS and they were saying 03-04 is when the external fuel filters were deleted. So IDK. My 04 project suburban I'm pretty sure doesn't have the external fuel filter.
