Great thread. I'm glad everything worked out for you and truck got repaired.

I'm working on my 04 "project" suburban and it had a smashed hood when I bought it, and the roof clear was peeling. I painted both, and using this as practice. The roof was actually a challenging part because it's friggin' huge!

My 99 Silverado ECSB has started to get clear failure at the upper pillars and the roof is looking kinda sad. Besides a few chips and dings, it's otherwise in good shape. I'm thinking of doing a complete paint job. But will probably do it in parts: roof, hood and tailgate, then one side or both sides.

I was in Tennessee last week for a job. Flew to Nashville and then drove to Sweetwater.

I bypassed the power steering cooler back in 2018 when the cooler developed a pinhole near the top. Just removed the cooler and looped the line back to the steering rack. Haven't had a steering cooler on my 04 since then. I haven't noticed any difference with it not being there.

Agreed. Please, everyone, have your own separate Build Thread.

I have a very large one at the Tahoe/Yukon Forum, that currently has 780 posts on it about my GMT800 2005 Tahoe Z71. It would be crazy to mix all that up with other member's build posts.

I will have a separate one for the work I am doing for the 2004 K2500HD.

I can’t say enough about Frost Guards. It definitely saves on having to scrape windows. I’ve had this one for several years now. It is held on by elastic over the mirrors.

11/2021. Noticed rear bump stops were shot. Replaced with Prothane red bump stops.

Yea, my girl has 2 sets. One for our 2004 Silverado and one for her 2002 TrailBlazer. I park my 2005 Tahoe under a canopy every night, so I don't get the frost on my w/s.

On way home tonight, noticed that left low beam was out. Not bad life for cheap LEDs that were installed December 2021. I thought odd back then but glad now, low beams and driving lights were the same bulb in that kit; only high beam was different. I always thought they were too bright for the driving lights anyways. I’m going to pull those bulbs out and put the old incandescent bulbs in the driving lights for now.

Even at my age of 72, I can see just fine with the stock lights and clean lenses. The way I see fogged up headlight housings all the time, it's a good thing there are street lamps all over the area.

I live out in the county / woods; LEDs have been nice for seeing the critters by the road. Even the cheap LEDs (I paid $18 for 6 bulbs) lasted 4 years before 1 went out. Low beams are used way more than the other 4 have been. The other reason the driving lights are brighter then the low beams, there is no defuser in front of the bulb in the driving lights.

Well, swapped bulbs around and left low beam plug must be dead. I’ll have to dig into it later.

You might be onto something here. I checked the Chilton manual and

I’ll have to check this out tomorrow morning.

If the plug needs replaced, they make ceramic ones.

On 400's they're not, so the first time I encountered this concept of individually fused headlights, it was on a work truck GMT900 that kept burning up the driver side low beam connector. I replaced it a few times over the years, but one of those times it popped the fuse and left me stumped for a minute until I figured it out.

I would have sworn it wasn’t like that. I’ve worked on other trucks and they were not like that. More I thought about it, decided to check the manual and I’ll be dang if it didn’t show that on the schematic

Learned a long time ago in my shops. Anything electrical, even if it does not make sense or was not that way on other vehicles, I checked or my techs checked any and all fuses and relays. Sometimes it amazed me but I learned to do it.
